SAFETY NOTICE

Riders must follow all Queensland road rules during the race. This includes no crossing the centre line of the road at any time. Any cyclists who fall behind the lead group are to travel as a ‘road user’ and must obey all road rules.

In the interests of safety for both riders and motorists and to comply with the Department of Transport and Main Roads and Police Permits, RIDER SUPPORT VEHICLES ARE NOT PERMITTED TO FOLLOW THE RACE.

The conditions of our event permits, require that non-race traffic is able to approach and pass the convoys safely, which is made difficult by supporters’ vehicles queuing behind the race.

In previous years the Police stopped two race divisions to allow numerous vehicles following the race to pass. Most of these were riders support vehicles. Riders please instruct the drivers of your support vehicles that they are to leave Gatton by 8.50am and proceed to the top of the main range (approx. 41km from start) where KOM/QOM is judged or to the drinks station at Pilton Hall. (approx. 48km from start).

DRIVERS FOLLOWING THE RACE MAY BE FINED BY THE POLICE AND THEIR RIDER DISQUALIFIED FROM THE RACE.

Competitors are encouraged to leave warm-up clothing etc. with their race divisions’ official spares vehicles and collect them at the finish village in Warwick.

We appreciate your co-operation in assisting with the duty of care to maintain the safety of our riders and other road users.

Thank you.
